Denver joined the American league in 1960 as a charter member of "The Foolish Club." In a cost-saving move (one of many), they acquired their uniforms from a defunct college football game called the Copper Bowl, which had been held in Tucson Arizona. arrived for the club's third season. Before that 1962 campaign, though, the old uniforms, at the behest of the team's new head coach, were literally burned in a bonfire.
